SCOTTISH
WOMEN
WARRIORS
WHO WE ARE
WHAT WE DO
The only all-female team in Scotland, we've been an official club since 2015. Noticing the lack of any female only teams, we were established so that women could play and socialise in a safe and welcoming enviroment. This has been our team goal ever since - we train hard every week, but our emphasis is always on having a good time. As well as basketball, we also arrange and attend social events throughout the year.
We play competitively in the SBC Clinimed League and the BWB Women's League. These tournaments see us travelling the country throughout the season, which offers the opportunity for a club outing, lead by our Head Coach. A former Paralympian, who also won Glasgow Coach of the Year in 2017, she's been playing the game for over 20 years, so she knows her stuff!
The most popular wheelchair sport in the world, wheelchair basketball was born in the 1940s and used in the rehabilitation of war veterans. The 2012 Paralympic games gave the sport a huge boost in the UK, and there are now over 100 clubs in Britain alone. Following very similar rules to it's running basketball counterpart, the addition of sports wheelchairs adds an extra level of strategy to the game.
